our process so far

I thought I'd start a blog to update everyone about our adoption process. This is my first blog so bear with me!! i really enjoyed keeping up with another friend's adoption process and so i thought i'd try my hand at it! Ben and i have been trying to have another baby for almost four years now and nothing, so with a lot of thought and praying we decided to adopt. We decided to adopt through Lutheran Social Services of Montana. They were the first people we even checked into and thought they were great! We started by filling out a TON of paperwork, finger prints, physicals, etc. Then about a month ago we went through a 3 day workshop learning more about the adoption process, open adoption and a lot of other stuff. The next step for us is the home study, where a social worker comes to our home and talks with us and checks out the place to make sure it'll be a good home for the baby. after that we will be in a ready and waiting pool by thanksgiving so they tell us. we'll see!! We make a "profile" to give to various birthmoms for them to look at. The profile includes pics of us, stories of how we grew up, what we do as a family, etc. LSS (Lutheran Social Services) then gives our profile to the moms to look and choose from. it just depends on what she likes in a family. so it's just a waiting game from the homestudy, but well worth it i've heard!!! please feel free to ask questions. it's really been exciting and new for ben and i and Dawson.
